The Rhein Chemie business unit (RCH) offers customized active ingredient compounds, specialty chemicals and processing aids for the rubber, plastics and colorants industries.
RCH supplies the entire rubber processing industry with a broad range of pre-dispersed chemicals, processing promoters, vulcanization and filler activators, anti-sun check waxes, release agents, tire marking inks and high-performance (vulcanization) bladders. The business unit also produces colorants, pigments and pigment preparations for use in areas such as the plastics, coatings and colorants industries, as well as in inks and LCD screens.
The Rhein Chemie business unit is organized into two business lines:
From the development of the compound to the production of the finished component: as a partner to the rubber industry, this business line supplies high-quality solutions for all the challenges of rubber processing for tires and technical rubber goods.
RAB supplies the rubber industry with a broad range of pre-dispersed chemicals, processing promoters, vulcanization and filler activators, anti-sun check waxes, release agents, tire marking inks and high-performance bladders.
Key brands and product groups:
The RAB business line supplies a broad range of products from a single source for all applications in the rubber processing industry and also supports important developments in this sector through innovation. In its products Rhenogran® CLD-80, Aflux® 37 and Vulcuren®, for example, the business line offers the solutions needed to manufacture “green tires” – tires that provide the answer to growing demand for sustainable mobility worldwide.
RAB offers further innovative solutions for the plastics, colorants and personal care industries, such as CNT emulsions (Rhenofit®) and zinc oxide (Bayoxide®). In Rhenowave®, furthermore, we offer innovative online quality control for rubber blends.
RAB is the world’s leading supplier of high-performance bladders (Rhenoshape®) for tire manufacturing. This business has been expanded since 2012 through significant investment and acquisitions, and today comprises four production sites. RAB is setting new standards in process optimization and tire manufacturing particularly with a fully automated permanent bladder coating process.
Industries and areas of application:
The Colorant Additives (CAB) business line is a leading supplier of high-quality colorants for use in numerous demanding applications, from LCD displays to inks in writing instruments. The business line operates a leading state-of-the-art production facility at the Chempark Leverkusen site and serves its customers around the world with the help of a global logistics and warehousing network. Outstanding product quality, long-standing technical expertise, high innovation capability and the fulfillment of wide-ranging regulatory requirements are the critical qualification standards of this business line.
For example, the soluble colorants of the MACROLEX® product line are used to color plastic bottles for the food and cosmetics industries due to their high brilliance and transparency, as well as to the stringent purity requirements placed on these applications.
In the aqueous organic and inorganic pigment dispersions LEVANYL® and LEVANOX®, the business line offers a range of high-quality, color-intensive and brilliant products marked by narrow particle size distribution, small particle sizes and outstanding storage stability and that therefore satisfy the stringent demands of the colorants and coatings industry.
The pigment Yellow 150 is among the most light- and weather-resistant pigments on the market. It is used in various applications: the leading brand LEVASCREEN® is used in the manufacture of color filters for LCD TV screens. The BAYPLAST® product line is particularly tailored to the requirements of plastics coloring and can be easily dispersed. The highly transparent BAYFAST® line is particularly well suited for automotive coatings. The yellow pigment E4GN is the industry standard for permanent yellow laminate inks.
BAYSCRIPT® and special black colorants are primarily found in inkjet printing and writing inks. Special colorants are used to some extent in inkjet inks, as well as in general writing inks. They also give woodstains and household cleaning products their desired colors.
