LANXESS Corporation’s Little Rock site marks fifth anniversary in LANXESS family
Pittsburgh, PA – March 31, 2017– LANXESS Corporation’s Little Rock site in March marked its fifth anniversary since being acquired from Tire Curing Bladders, LLC (TCB) in 2012.
The Little Rock facility, operated by LANXESS’ Rhein Chemie Additives business unit (ADD), produces Rhenoshape® high-performance curing bladders used in tire manufacturing. The acquisition of TCB in 2012 was a further step in LANXESS’ strategy to position ADD as a global producer of high-quality bladders after it entered the bladder market through the acquisition of Argentina’s Darmex in 2011. LANXESS Rhein Chemie Additives is now one of the largest independent bladder manufacturer in the world and the only global player offering its customers bladders, release agents, bladder coatings and tire tread marking inks from a single source.
In the five years since the acquisition, the site has been completely modernized and expanded. New technologies such as Rhenowave™ have been introduced and today, Little Rock is an integral part of the global Rhenoshape bladder production network.
Nearly 400 safety and quality improvements have been completed since the acquisition, including infrastructure projects, IT systems and process improvement and automation projects. The fully-automated spraybooth for applying permanent coating onto Rhenoshape bladders is just one example. Another is Rhenowave, a new technology that has been successfully implemented at the Little Rock site. It is an inline process control developed for manufacturers of tires, profiles, technical rubber goods and rubber compounds. The system enables them to reliably monitor the dispersion quality of rubber compounds during extrusion. LANXESS utilizes this technology to improve its own production process, ensure high quality, minimize reject rates and reduce production costs.
Rhein Chemie Additives supplies the tire industry with a broad range of pre-dispersed polymer-bound additives, processing promoters, vulcanization and filler activators, anti-sun check waxes, release agents, tire marking inks and high-performance tire curing bladders.
Rhenoshape is a registered trademark of LANXESS Deutschland GmbH.
