Corporate Responsibility is verifiable. In its young history LANXESS has consequently improved its sustainable profile. The inclusion in sustainability indices and rankings confirms our commitment to sustainable development taking account of the demands of economics, ecology and society in equal measure.

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) – CDLI

LANXESS received an A- rating in the most recent CDP evaluation, making it one of the top 10% out of 218 chemical companies rated by CDP. LANXESS ranked among the top 2% across all sectors. The Group has been disclosing data relevant to climate protection as part of its program since 2012.


The "A" rating is awarded to companies that stand out in terms of the transparency and completeness of their reporting and the climate protection services they actually provide.


The independent charitable organization CDP has set itself the goal of creating global transparency on greenhouse gas emissions and the management of water resources and forests. In 2018, more than 7,000 companies, 620 cities and 120 countries submitted their data to the initiative. This makes the CDP data platform one of the world's most comprehensive sources of environmentally relevant information.


Climate protection firmly anchored in sustainability strategy

Climate protection and energy efficiency are central topics of LANXESS' sustainability strategy. Even before the Paris climate protection agreement, the specialty chemicals group had formulated concrete goals. By 2025, the company aims to reduce its energy consumption and specific CO2 emissions by 25 percent compared with 2015.


With its climate protection strategy, LANXESS is making a contribution to the "Sustainable Development Goals" of the United Nations (goal 13: climate protection measures).

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

In 2019, for the ninth time in a row, LANXESS is listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World. In addition, LANXESS is also listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe. This year, the company achieved particularly good results in the areas of Climate Strategy, Corporate Governance, and Human Rights.

LANXESS has met the criteria for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index since 2011. The listing confirms the Groups' sustainable management. Created in 2001 by the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange the FTSE4Good is a main criterion for decisions about sustainable investment. Companies listed in FTSE4Good must meet stringent ethical, social and ecological criteria.

Together for Sustainability: LANXESS is again “gold rated” in the global EcoVadis Assessment

Since 2011 LANXESS is part of the industry initiative “Together for Sustainability” (TfS). The objective of TfS is to take responsibility for the global supply chain and initiate improvements on the way to sustainable procurement of goods and services.
As a member, also LANXESS was also been assessed by the agency EcoVadis as well. LANXESS achieved an improved performance score of 72 in the current evaluation in 2018 and, with the Gold Recognition Level, is one of the top 5% in the industry. EcoVadis, one of the world's leading rating agencies for sustainability assessments, carries out the assessments as a partner of Together for Sustainability.
