LANXESS Corporation to debut sprayable flame retardant polyurethane system at UTECH North America

October 11-13, 2010, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, Booth # 600

LANXESS Corporation will present  a sprayable intumescent polyurethane system that has been adapted to  the spray process from its established BAYFOMOX® raw material system of flame retardants. The new formulation can be applied quickly while maintaining the same level of fire resistance found in the nonsprayable formulation.

"What's great about the sprayable formulation is that it can be applied faster to provide a cost savings for manufacturers of fire-resistant articles and fire-stop coatings," says John Sawaya, North American Business Manager for LANXESS Phosphorus Chemicals.

Dr. Heiko Tebbe, who is responsible for flame retardant product development in the Americas adds, "Not only does the entire process  speed up, manufacturers can now spray very complex geometric shapes without sacrificing fire resistance properties."

This new system will be presented during the Polyurethanes 2010 Technical Conference, which runs in conjunction with UTECH North America, on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 4:30 p.m.

LANXESS will also highlight its portfolio of flame retardants for the polyurethane industry in booth #600 of the exhibition. This includes all the phosphorous-based LEVAGARD® and DISFLAMOLL® flame retardant lines, as well as the BAYFOMOX® raw material system for fire stop materials.
