Birmingham, NJ – October 23, 2017 -- LANXESS’ Liquid Purification Technologies business unit—operating in the United States as LANXESS Sybron Chemicals—enables customers in a wide variety of industries to meet their water purification challenges with a broad portfolio of ion exchange resins, reverse osmosis membranes and other specialized technologies and services. These will be on full display at the LANXESS booth (#301) at the upcoming International Water Conference, November 12 – 16 in Orlando.


LEWATIT® Ion Exchange Resins

LEWATIT® ion exchange (IX) resins are used to remove dissolved particles from liquids. Water treatment is the best-known and largest application for IX resins. In the power industry, IX resins are used in a variety of applications for steam production and related treatment. In homes, IX resins soften water. IX can play a critical role in purifying industrial effluents and in the treatment of groundwater. LANXESS has a range of special LEWATIT® resins that are able to selectively remove, for example, heavy metal ions and organic pollutants from waste-water. Other fields of application for IX resins include semi-conductor production, galvanic industry (recovery and treatment of metals such as gold, copper, nickel or cobalt in hydrometallurgy), pharmaceuticals, sugar refining and the food and beverage industry.


LEWABRANE® Reverse Osmosis Membranes

The LEWABRANE® reverse osmosis (RO) membrane elements product line, including the new Ultra Low Pressure (ULP) line that was recently launched for removing micropollutants in water treatment, consists of spiral-wound, thin-film composite membrane elements designed specifically for water treatment applications. The RO membrane chemistry and element construction is designed to provide optimized, low-cost operation for downstream unit applications including separate-bed or mixed-bed ion exchange units.


LewaPlus® Design Software

The LewaPlus® design software is unique in the water treatment industry. LewaPlus® is a comprehensive software design tool for IX resins and RO membrane systems. The RO permeate can be seamlessly transferred to the IX module for a quick and accurate design of a complete desalination system. Furthermore, it allows for dimensioning of IX and RO systems under a variety of system configurations, including some unique process configurations only available with Lewatit® and Lewabrane® product technology. Special Focus on the Power Generation Industry

While LANXESS liquid purification products and services are employed in a variety of industries, at the IWC Show in Orlando the company will  be placing a special focus on the power generation industry. LEWATIT® ion exchange resins are used in the production of ultra-pure boiler feed water and steam to avoid incrustations and corrosion. This improves the efficiency, operating reliability and lifetime of power plants both fossil and nuclear. LANXESS’ ion exchange resins are ideal for makeup water, for all kinds of treating water in the primary and secondary cooling loops, for condensate polishing and for treating waste water.
