“Smart Solutions for a Sustainable Future of Mobility”

LANXESS presents innovative high-tech plastics and engineering expertise at Nissan

On December 5, 2012, LANXESS Corporation’s High Performance Materials (HPM) business unit showcased its smart solutions for a sustainable future of mobility during a Tech Day Expo held at the Nissan Technical Center North America Headquarters in Farmington Hills (Detroit), Michigan.  Approximately 160 Nissan engineers, designers, managers, buyers and technicians visited the Expo to see and hear about how LANXESS’ innovative materials and engineering know-how are being successfully applied in the development of lightweight automotive parts and structures.

LANXESS showcased examples of the latest technology in automotive applications and highlighted its expert technical support services for all stages of advanced material development – material and concept development, computer-aided engineering, part testing, and processing.  Applications on display included front end modules, airbag housings, and engine and transmission oil applications, along with their specific cost and weight savings opportunities for Nissan.  The Tech Day event provided LANXESS HPM a platform to define technical experts as key contacts for a more strategic and tailored approach for development partnerships.

“The Nissan Tech Day was a great opportunity for LANXESS HPM to share our materials and service capabilities directly with the people who are designing and creating new Nissan vehicles,” said Jens-Hendrik Fischer, General Manager Americas for the High Performance Materials business unit.  “We were able to communicate technical information to interested experts and show them, with tangible examples, how our high-tech plastics can create tremendous weight-savings in various auto parts, and therefore contribute to making cars more fuel-efficient.”

Established in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan) in 1933, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. currently manufactures vehicles in 20 countries and areas around the world, including Japan.  Nissan offers products and services in more than 160 countries and areas worldwide.  The Nissan Technical Center North America is headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and employs more than 575 people at facilities in California, Tennessee and Arizona, USA.
