Focused on the customer: World of Concrete 2013, February 5 – 8 in Las Vegas

LANXESS and its Distribution Network together at World of Concrete 2013, February 5 – 8 in Las Vegas, South Hall / Booth #S12014

LANXESS, one of the world’s largest producers of iron oxide pigments, is focusing its participation in this year’s World of Concrete show on commitment to the customer.  In addition to LANXESS technical and sales teams, the company’s distribution partners – Cohills Building Specialties Inc., E & A Supply Corporation, and Empire Blended Distributors, Inc. – will be on-hand at the LANXESS booth to address specific supply needs.

“We are committed to supporting our customers by ensuring a reliable network of distributors in North America,” said Hans-Peter Baldus, Head of the LANXESS Inorganic Pigments Group in North America.

LANXESS Inorganic Pigments Group (IPG) has consistently delivered on its promises when it comes to reliability of supply for its customers worldwide and in North America.  As part of this effort, LANXESS is expanding its global production network for inorganic pigments: a new high-tech facility for premium iron oxide red pigments is being constructed at the Ningbo Chemical Park on the Chinese East Coast.  The plant, with highly modern environmental standards, will initially have an annual capacity of 25,000 metric tons. The investment of about EUR 55 million will create 150 new jobs. Construction will begin in the second quarter 2013. The production startup is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.

LANXESS will manufacture high quality iron oxide red pigments at the new plant using an improved and highly sustainable Penniman process.

“Our newly announced investment in China will enhance our portfolio with an extended range of innovative pigments based on leading German technology, as well as strengthen our global production network of existing plants in Germany, China and Brazil, enabling us to better serve our local customer base,” said Baldus.  Additionally, our advanced and innovative production processes are raising the bar worldwide for iron oxide pigment production in terms of water treatment, waste gas cleaning and energy consumption.”

The company will market their yellow shaded pigments globally under the well-known brand Bayferrox®. Key customers are manufacturers of paints and coatings. The construction and plastics industries will also be supplied.

LANXESS’ Bayferrox® pigments offer high tinting strength, are extraordinarily lightfast and weather-stable, and distinguished by their high quality and simple and environmentally compatible processing.  Available in powder, compact pigment and granular forms, they are used to color construction materials such as cast in-situ concrete, pre-cast concrete components, concrete roofing tiles, pavers and asphalt.
